Childproof your Pool

Backyard swimming pools are common in lots of areas of the United States, especially over the summer months but they do come with risks. Just owning a pool can frequently be enough to find a big rise in your Orlando homeowners insurance premiums. Even if you don’t have children in your home, make sure your pool is safe for any neighboring kids who might wander into your backyard, by taking adequate security precautions.

Here are several ways to help make your swimming pool as secure as possible before the swimming season starts:

• Put in a child safety fence around the pool. Make sure there’s no way for kids to squeeze under or in between the rails.
• Buy a good, rigid pool cover.
• Consider purchasing a pool alarm which can detect waves or movement below the surface.
• Keep toys or any other tempting things out of the pool while not being.
• Be sure the area around the pool is free of tripping hazards.

The most important safety precaution when it comes to children and swimming pools is supervision. Never let kids around the vicinity of your pool without an grownup, even if they are great swimmers. A liability claim on your Orlando homeowners insurance would be bad enough, but knowing that a tragedy could have been prevented with a little forethought and vigilance could be utterly distressing.

Why You Should Not Think Twice in Buying a Quality Bed

When we were starting out we didn’t know a thing about buying home furniture. We went to the furniture store and we bought the cheapest we could find. We bought the cheapest bed, the cheapest mattress, the cheapest tv rack. We thought as long as it looked good it’s enough.

As the months and years go by we realized it’s a no-no to settle for cheap furniture. Cheap furniture will not last long. By the time we were in our second year of living in our own apartment most of the furniture we bought were run down and broken.

If you don’t have enough budget and can only choose one quality furniture I would advise to splurge your money on a sturdy bed. Of course, don’ forget to pair it up with a thick mattress, and luxury bed linen. We can live with a rundown cabinet but not a rundown bed. It’s where we recharge our tired bodies after a long day of work. We use our bed at least 8 hours every day. Sleep is a precious commodity so we have to ensure that we give our bodies the rest it deserve.

The White Company is an online dealer of luxury bed linen. If you want to find the best then head over there and browse their shop for the best deals.

Zack’s First Haircut

Oh gosh, the past week has been filled of activity after activity and I haven’t blogged a single thing! I have so many kwento so no more intro and I’ll just go to the main event.

Last week, Zack had his first haircut! Actually, it’s his second haircut but during the first time we cheated and did it while he was sleeping. He just turned one year old that time. I held him while his Dad cut his hair. Result: no pic and uneven haircut.

This time, we decided to do it the hard way – while he was wide awake and kicking. Side note: on our eldest we didn’t think of cutting his hair ourselves. We had to find a barber brave enough to cut. We would get turned down because they don’t do small kid’s hair. It was only later we learned that the first haircut was done mostly by parents.

Being first timers in this haircutting thing, it was a disaster at first.

Daddy tried to cut his hair while he was standing up. It was a bad idea because he tried to run away.

I tried to get him to sit on my lap but he insisted on going down.

At last, we found the solution.

If you want to do this at home you would need a chair, scissors, and – an iPad! The latter to keep him entertained while you snip and snip, of course. Be sure to keep his favorite toys at arm’s reach too. In Zack’s case we had his two guitars by his side.

He was so distracted he didn’t even notice what Daddy was doing.

Got to cut these strays – Daddy.

But watch out for sudden movements!

Sit tight, Zack we’re almost done.

This haircut is a success!

Summer Music Lessons

Hubby is teaching kids to play some instruments at our church for summer vacation. He will be doing this twice a week for two months. I am glad he is doing something worthwhile in his free time. He said a lot of kids turned up during the first day which means kids really want to learn to play some instruments. He is also training some older teens to help him train the little kids because he knows he can’t handle this all by himself.

Anyway, I suggested to hubby that they should buy some new instruments for our church. Right now they have a drum set, some guitars, and a keyboard. If they add something new like violins or even King Tubas then more kids will be able to play at the church every Sunday. We all know the music is a good hobby and it is even linked to high achievement rates in adulthood. It is way better than playing video games at home.

For Big Events

When there are big events like trade shows, concerts, church wedding and many others, you have to prepare the venue for the safety of the visitors or attendees by setting up stanchions. This is very important in any occasion that involves safety of the people. Stanchions will be appropriate for controlling human traffic, that can be quickly and smoothly organize the crowd. An accident is just waiting to happen they say so it’s better if we are always prepared for it by putting the necessary safety precautions.

24 Hour Fever

Zack gave us a scare yesterday. We were about to sleep when I noticed he was running with fever. I thought it would be gone when we wake up the next day but it persisted throughout the day. He didn’t want to eat and play. He just wanted to be cuddled. He didn’t want anyone to hold him but me. So we were together literally the whole 24 hours yesterday. His Dad is also worried sick and spent the night taking care of him. I’m glad we can be with him when he needs us the most but it was really tiring taking care of a sick baby. While some parents would resort to Acid cigars to take some of the stress off I, on the other hand, tried to sleep it off. As soon as I saw him nod to sleep I also took a rest. This way I know I’ll be strong enough to take care of him and not get sick afterwards.

Anyway, the good news is when we woke up this morning he was already fine and dandy. He’s already playing a little and eating some of his favorite food. Right now he’s at the kitchen eating some fruits with our helper that’s why I was able to sneak some time to do my work.

Paparazzi Shots of a Future Rock N’ Roll Star

I felt like a paparazzi yesterday. You know, like one of those photographers doing everything they can to get that one valuable shot of a celebrity. Except me, I was not stalking a celebrity. I was stalking someone more important.

Who else but our dearest baby? Who is all grown up now at the age of 15 months!

It all started when hubby told me little Zack was spending some time in the mirror. And not only was he looking at himself in the mirror he was also pretending he was playing the guitar while watching himself.

I knew I had to get a shot of him for evidence.

So yesterday, when I saw him in front of the mirror I quickly got my camera and hid behind the cabinet.

It was useless because he saw me as soon as I took the first shot.

Nevertheless, he put on a good show and so paparazzi mom happily clicked away!

PhotobucketToday is the day you have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it…

Choosing the Perfect Flowers for Anniversary Gifts

Anniversaries are special occasions for many reasons, not the least of which is being able to truly celebrate the care and affection between partners and loved ones. Be it the excitement of a couples’ first year of marriage, the golden achievement of fifty years together, or simply the wonderful teenage romance of a month, they are unique in that they only happen once. There are many ways to mark such joyous moments, floral gifts being one of the most touching. One reason for this is because, in essence, a floral gift is a snapshot of life at its most beautiful, a perfect gesture for a perfect day.

Photobucket

We at interflora are committed to ensuring a personal service with a human touch.  To this end interflora anniversary gifts stock a wide range of products to suit any occasion.  I’m sure you are aware there are traditional flowers for certain anniversaries, daisies for a fifth wedding celebration for instance, or yellow roses for the fiftieth.  There are also flowers for all other years too, however. Lilies and lilacs are usually given for the second and eighth anniversaries, whilst the daffodil and gladiolus are perfect for the tenth and fortieth years.  Although we obviously respect tradition, interflora also acknowledges this is not always the way people want to go. Therefore our anniversary gift range also includes a selection of less typical items such as wine and floral gift baskets and several exquisite arrangements tastefully packaged with chocolates.

Photobucket

We also stock more fun items such as sparkling rose wine and love balloons – tailor-made for the younger romantic.  The range extends to the luxurious one hundred grand prix roses expertly hand tied by our in house florists. Our interflora anniversary gift range contains several off the shelf items and packages; pre-designed by us, yet made to order by trained florists for you. However, you are not constrained by this.  Interflora can cater for any taste, and we love to give sound advice on gift ideas.  If there is anything we can do to make your choice easier, please contact us and together we will find that perfect gift for you.

7 Years and Counting

Oh my gosh, I’m sure my readers have deserted my blog already because of lack of updates. This is really so bad of me. And to think March is already going to end and I have written just a few posts.

I’ll really try to update this blog everyday so I’ll not miss any memories of my family. That’s the reason I started this blog in the first place. So here goes.

    • March has been very good to me that’s why I hate to see it go. I’ve had lots of clients and it all started this month.
    • I’ve been waking up early to get some work done. When I woke up today I was surprised my eldest was already awake. So we went to the kitchen and started working together – him with his PACES and me with my online work – at 4am!
    • Our youngest is as active as ever. He walks non-stop around the house ever since he learned to walk. It drives us crazy because he might get into an accident or something. Thank God nothing serious happened except for that nasty bump he got on his forehead hence the new playpen.
    • See the faint line in the middle of his forehead in this picture. That’s the one I’m talking about.
      Photobucket

    • I know I already raved about this but I’m so happy my youngest is not a picky eater. He eats almost everything we put on his plate.
    • I was so tired this noon – because of the heat! I wanted to take a nap but Zack just had his nap and there’s no way he’ll fall asleep. So I left him with his granny and locked the door to get some precious sleep. After probably 30 minutes I opened the door to check on him. So shocked to find him waiting for me by the door. He even moved his toys over there so he could play while waiting for me. My baby is so sweeeeeeeet!!!!
  • Today is our 7th year anniversary! Yuhooo! I love you, hubby! I’m so happy to have spent the last 7 years of my life with you. We’re going to have more happy and crazy years together so brace yourself. LOL!
