There are few things more perfectly adorable than a baby. The next best thing may be the sweet outfits that you put them in. <\/span>But before you even bring baby home from the hospital, those precious pint-sized clothing items add up quickly, and if you don’t start organizing your baby’s closet or dresser right away, they can create a bigger mess than you\u2019d ever imagine. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don\u2019t have a system to organize baby clothes, your little one\u2019s nursery can become an overwhelming, disorganized, and cluttered mess. Let’s be real, the last thing you need to worry about as a mom with a baby is stress caused by mounds of baby clothes! This post will offer some tips on how to stay on top of keeping your baby\u2019s wardrobe tidy. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 Tips on How To Organize Baby Clothes <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Organize by size<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a good chance that you will have a ton of new baby clothes as well as a sea of hand-me-downs from relatives and friends. The first step in organizing baby clothes is to sort them all by size. <\/span>Babies grow quickly, and having their clothes sorted by size makes it a lot easier to remove items as baby outgrows them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Group by clothing item <\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In addition to sorting by size, I recommend sorting by type of clothing, i.e. pants, shorts, onesies, socks, etc. Determine where you want each of these items to be housed and stick to it. For example, perhaps you want all your onesies to be in the dresser. Adding drawer dividers in the dresser drawers will make things even more organized. Baby dresses and shirts are items that you may prefer to hang in the closet.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add an extra closet rail<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

When organized properly, baby clothes don\u2019t take up a ton of space. You can double your closet hanging space by <\/span>installing another closet rail.<\/a> <\/span>With two closet rods, you can hang clothes on the top and bottom of the closet. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maximize space with door storage and baskets<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Make the most of your nursery closet by <\/span>using every part of it. This not only makes it easier to keep baby clothes, shoes, and other loose items organized, but it ensures you have more than enough room for everything. Use a cloth or plastic shoe organizer (they sell them at the dollar store) for convenient and easily accessible storage for diapers and wipes or baby shoes. Place a cute set of baskets<\/a> on the very top rack of the closet or in the top drawer of the dresser to house loose items such as hair accessories, hats, burp clothes, baby socks, etc. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Label everything<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Labeling everything is the cherry on top of organization. Using a label maker<\/a>, I mark dresser drawers and baskets to show where everything goes. I love to have my children help me put clothes away. It\u2019s an appropriate chore for almost any age. When everything is labeled, my children and my husband never need to ask me where something goes! <\/span>They still do, but they don’t need <\/em>to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have a plan for storing out-grown clothes<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We all know how quickly time goes by, and our babies seem to grow <\/span>so<\/span><\/i> fast. That means they are constantly outgrowing clothes and need new ones filtered in. One of the most sure-fire ways to keep baby clothes organized is to keep up with these changes. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When your baby is ready to move up a clothing size, wash and fold all clothes that they\u2019ve grown out of, place them in a labeled stackable bin, and have a designated place to store them. Keeping it organized as you go will make it so much easier when you need to rummage through your stash to lend clothes to another expecting mommy (or when <\/span>you\u2019re<\/span><\/i> ready for another baby!).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baskets<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Baskets are my go-to for organizing baby clothes. The possibilities are endless with various sizes, shapes, and colors available. Odds and ends that don\u2019t belong in the dresser or hanging in a closet, such as baby blankets, are good choices to keep in a basket. Baskets also add to the design decor of the nursery.
