What to Do Before You Hire a Search Engine Marketing Company for your Ecommerce Site

Building an ecommerce website is tough. That’s what I’ve realized these past few months. Here I was worried about finding the right search engine marketing company that could help our online furniture business when the reality was, I still had a lot of things to do before I get there.

First, I had to build our own ecommerce website. I decided to build our own instead of relying on the popular sites like multiply.com and Facebook because I want to have control of our website. After all, this is going to be the face of our online store. I’m not a programmer and don’t know how to build a website from scratch so I just bought one. Good thing there are a lot of pretty good ones for sale.

Next, I had to upload the pictures of the furniture we’re going to sell. My dad provided me with these. I thought it was as easy as uploading it online but boy, I was wrong. I had to literally process a thousand pictures and make them presentable. It proved too much for me so I finally hired someone to help me with this task. After the pictures are uploaded I have to fill in other details like the description and prices for each furniture. This I have yet to do and I am already dreading the sheer amount of work this will entail.

Finally, when the website is ready that’s when I can hire a search engine marketing company to spread the word around so that potential customers will find us. This is the most crucial step which is why I’d rather leave it to the professionals who have experience in targeting potential customers.

Anyway, even though it has brought me sleepless nights the past few weeks I am still enjoying what I’m doing. It has been an awesome learning experience for me and I can’t believe how much I have already learned since I started this project. I hope everything turns out well so that we can finally make one of our dreams come true.

Wish us luck, guys!
