Entering Our Second Year of Homeschooling

We’re finally done with our Level 2 PACES. This week, we’re going to Z’s school to get his next level of PACES. In one year we finished two levels – not bad for our first year of homeschooling but there’s still lots of room for improvement.

I noticed Z doesn’t like writing too much and I really can’t blame him. It’s a problem because our curriculum is a workbook-style curriculum where there are lots of things to answer. Maybe I can ask our adviser if I can ask him to recite instead of writing the answers from time-to-time. After all, in regular school we don’t write our answers for all the exercises in right?

I am also planning to supplement our materials with things I can get online since there’s a wealth of school materials in the internet for free already. The problem is just finding the needle from the haystack. Hopefully, I can get enough time to get materials online to help me make his lessons interesting for him.

Anyway, I already found a cool site to help us with our lessons. Check out these online flashcards. I definitely can use this to quiz him for our math lessons. I can even make up my own questions with their built-in flash card software. No need to buy flashcards anymore because I can use this anytime.

So wish us luck. It will be more difficult because the our baby is not so little anymore. He would want to be involved with whatever his older brother is doing. So I will definitely involve him so he can have a headstart too. Which means I will really have my hands full. Wish us luck!

Hey, glad to know that our kids are using the same curriculum – the PACE system. But my daughter is enrolled in a nearest Christian school ( 5 km away from our church/home) . I want to home school her but I don’t think I could still handle it since I have a day time work.

I wonder how to apply for homeschooling for PACE system? Does all SOT accredited school has that option?
