Hilarious Homonyms

Good morning! I know most of you are busy preparing for your children’s school. We are homeschooling again this year so we’re spared from all of that. In fact, we’ve been homeschooling the entire summer. We’re just finishing level 2 then we’ll take a one-month break. Hopefully, we can go on a vacation some place too while we’re on break. I really need one!

Anyway, today we learned about homonyms, words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings. I asked Z to use a homonym in a sentence. Then I told him to draw his sentence but instead of using the correct homonym he will use the wrong one. We got a few laughs seeing the result.

There’s a sale sail at the mall. (That’s a sailboat on the left side.)

The postman brought a mail male. (Do they deliver a live person nowadays?hehe)

The male mail had a haircut. (An envelope with hair? Now that I have yet to see!)

So aside from learning the meaning of different words, Z learned the importance of getting the right word in context.

Try this with your kids and see what hilarious homonyms they can come up with.

I loved grammar lessons. I particularly liked learning antonyms, synonyms and homonyms.

I am thinking of homeschooling our little ones next year. Is it really better for the kids?

Just curious, where are you getting support for homeschooling? Did you have to pay to use a certain curriculum?

Yes, we’re under Living Heritage Academy in Paranaque. We’re using a workbook-based curriculum which we got from them. 🙂

Yes, we pay for the workbook called PACES. These are affordable too if you’re wondering. 🙂
