Z Shows off His Guitar Chords

Hi guys! My eldest son Z wants to show you some of the things he learned during his guitar workshop last summer.

When he started attending this workshop we didn’t know what to expect. His Dad was already thinking he didn’t have any interest in music. After all, his guitar lay untouched for three years. But something happened during this music workshop – it was so sudden that we couldn’t help but feel it’s like magic. Because just like that he started to take real interest in playing the guitar, even practicing by himself every afternoon. He started bugging his Dad to teach him the chords of his favorite songs. He watched less and less TV. I don’t hear his Ma-I’m-bored-and-got-nothing-to-do line anymore.

That’s why I’m a proud mama and I want to share his small achievement. Next time it’s going to be a video with him playing.

Cool! He knows how to do the full bar! :-) I had to re-train my fingers to do that now that I am an adult. It wasn’t easy but having to re-learn things made me appreciate guitar playing more.

Awww. That’s so cool! I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but never got the chance. Nakakainggit! Haha.

Wow! Frustration ko yan Sis! It’s nice na maliit pa sya ndevelop na nya yung passion for music. My daughter had also been practicing to play guitar kaso medyo nahinto na. Sayang but I will still encourage her to continue. :)

Paula, that’s really good to hear. I watched a documentary sa National Geographic about a father who really wanted to have a son na genius.

So ang ginawa nya, inexpose nya yung anak nya sa iba-ibang activities, to find out what he is really passionate about. Malalaman mo daw na “yun” na yun, kapag nag-grow sya ng interest at nawalan sya ng interest sa ibang bagay. It’s not common daw kasi that children focus on one activity alone.

For his son, it happened to be chess. So trinain nya yung anak nya sa chess and he had him compete with others. Now, his son is a chess genius.

I was excited to hear that Z grew an interest in playing guitar. Whether yan yung passion nya or phase, it’s still good that something other than tv and video games got him interested. :)

This is so nice to hear, Rae! I wished we’ve seen that docu too. It would surely motivate my hubby more. He’s really the one who does all the hard work. Aside from guitar he also exposes him to basketball and pingpong. We can’t wait to know where Z will excel. He loves them all for now so that means we haven’t found the “one.” Hopefully we’ll find it soon. Wish us luck!
