It has been three years since we stopped renting and came back to live at my husband’s childhood home. This move allowed us to save monthly on rent. It also made us closer to our friends and relatives. If before we would miss every occasion like birthday parties and weddings now we don’t have any reason to miss any important occasion. Most importantly, my husband has resumed serving the Lord through our church’s music department where he spends his time every Saturday to teach worship songs to musicians. I always like it when my husband has extra curricular activities like this because I read men who socialize live longer. So whenever he has time to meet his friends or join organizations I welcome it with open arms. LOL!
Anyway, one thing I didn’t expect about maintaining a home of your own is that it can be costly too. Unlike when we were renting whenever there’s a problem we’ll just inform our landlord and he takes care of it. Now it is our responsibility to fix broken door handles, leaking roofs, etc. But what I like about it is we have the freedom to arrange it to fit our own taste and buy discount window whenever we feel like it. We don’t have to ask approval from a landlord anymore.
