One of the advantages of working online is that we can still report at the office even while visiting our relatives.
My eldest has always been close to his grandpa. As a testament to that, the word lolo, which means grandfather, was one of his very first words. Last week, he finally noticed that he hasn’t seen his lolo for quite some time so he demanded that he talk to him over the phone and told him how much he misses him.
Thus the reason why we’re right here at the moment – at his lolo’s house. Hubby’s call time is at 7am so when we woke up at quarter to six this morning we had to dash to make it to my father-in-law’s house in time for his work. Thankfully, we avoided morning traffic rush and he was able to go online a few minutes before 7. We had no time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or to play a quick game of poker because hubby just arrived in the nick of time but that was okay because seeing our son happy was all worth it.
While hubby worked at his laptop our son and his lolo went around the village riding their bikes, stopping at home only for a few minutes before going out again riding in a motorcycle this time to shop for some groceries. After lunch, my FIL took the opportunity to teach him how to play the piano and the guitar. Z and his lolo made up for the lost time by talking, playing, and doing all sorts of activities kids love doing.
When my hubby was finally done at his job for the day there was no more wasted time commuting. He was able to join his dad and his nephew in their friendly poker games right that very instant. My youngest son, on the other hand, was busy showing off his impressive crawling skills to the delight of his grandma!
It was indeed a very fruitful day for our family here at my in-law’s house. I’m glad that we are able to balance work and play, career and family, and it’s all thanks to this wonderful invention called the internet.
