When I started homeschooling I knew it was not going to be easy. I didn’t expect it to be so hard though. Our first two weeks I had to constantly prod my son to answer his books or we call it PACES. He would lose focus after a minute or two and I would get his attention again. It left me frustrated and exhausted. My hubby even had to rescue me a few times and continue with homeschooling our son because I was too tired and had no energy left.
Fortunately, we had a breakthrough. It turned out I was too lax and my son didn’t fully understood the importance of what we were doing. When it finally sank to him that studying was serious matter he buckled up and started focusing. Whereas before we would only accomplish two pages per subject per day now we can finish up to five pages per subject! Even when I am breastfeeding and have to leave him for some time when I return to check on him he’s still answering his PACES. I’m so relieved that we had a great start.
Before I end my post, let me leave this post with a note to my son:
To my eldest son, Z, we still have a long to go but you’ll never be alone with your journey. Dad and I will do our best to guide you to be the best you can be. You are doing a great job and we are so proud of you!
