Taking a Break From Mommy Duties
My husband, at the moment, is frantically rehearsing for his piece. I forgot to tell you we’re going to a bar where he’s going to perform. Of course, I will be there to support him. We’re going to have our date there too. Yes, it’s our Valentine’s date and it would be our first since we got married. We were so busy the last five years taking care of our son and just keeping our family together that we couldn’t afford to go out on dates. This is also the first Valentine that I have someone else to look after Z while we’re gone so nothing is stopping our Valentine’s date.
Oh well, got to get ready now. Wish us luck!
Top Five Romantic Movie Scenes I Absolutely Love to Watch
Yes, you’re not lost. This is my date.
Valentine’s day is right around the corner. I know some of you don’t have dates and will spend the day alone which makes me glad I’m already beyond that stage and got myself a man. ha! I’m so lucky I don’t need to find a date at the last minute or go through a horrid Valentine’s day date with a total stranger just because he’s the only one available. I’m so lucky I found a good-hearted, responsible partner who loves me for who I am.
Unfortunately, being married for five years I found out that finding the perfect partner for life doesn’t equate to a hot, romantic date every year on Valentine’s. Those stuff I saw at movies are only stuff made for movies. For a mommy like me it’s just another day at home where you act as if nothing special is going on. Or it’s just the climax in your week long wait for the V day hoping and praying that all the clues and hints you’ve thrown your husband’s way have gotten through one way or another only to find out in the end that you’re husband was just heartless and insensitive dense – I’m talking about your husband, mine’s just overworked.
So in time for Valentine’s day I’m celebrating it by bringing out my list of Top 5 Cheesiest/Romantic (there’s no difference I’ll take anything at this stage) Movie Scenes You Can Watch on Valentine’s Day. I’m sharing this to all the wives and the single ladies out there – yes, both are lumped together – who needs to satisfy their V-day cravings.
5.Say Anything
The scene is only 20 seconds long but has been copied over and over. Just head over at You Tube and type “Say Anything Boombox” and you’ll know what I mean.
4. Love Actually
Again, wordless but as they say, actions speak louder than words. Click here to see the Love Actually romantic scene that would surely melt your heart. Brought things to my eyes. *sniff
3. Ten Things I Hate About You
I watched this in High School and I remember I was full of fantasies during that stage in my life and yes, that includes someone professing his love to me like this for all the world to see.
2. The Wedding Singer
Who can forget about this one?! The song became a hit after watching Adam Sandler performed this and Drew Barrymore’s reaction is just perfect. I hope I’ll be that beautiful when my husband finally serenades me.
1. The Notebook
The Notebook is absolutely the most romantic movie I’ve ever watched ever and it’s full of hot romantic kisses throughout the movie. Forgive me but this last video is not a movie scene but a reenaction of the kisses live onstage by the lead actors, Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. Enjoy!
P.S.
The videos worked. I showed it to my husband two days ago and then a few minutes later he asked me what day was Valentine’s. I told him it was a Sunday and he kept quiet. I thought that was the end of it but yesterday he said we’re going on a date on Monday instead to avoid the traffic rush. He said we’re going to a bar and then somewhere private afterwards. I wonder if he was really serious. LOL!
Where to Get Dockers Free Pants | Docker's Super Bowl Commercial
I guess by now you have watched the Super Bowl commercial by Dockers and you want to know where to get free Docker pants. The commercial is really an eye-catcher that’s why people are talking about it. In the commercial guys wearing no pants are walking and singing this one line, “We wear no pants.” They were singing this over and over until the narrator tells them that Dockers is giving away free pants.
If you haven’t seen it then here’s the I Wear No Pants Commercial by Dockers.
It also tells you to go to dockers.com/freepants to get them but I’m telling you ahead that the commercial was not quite honest as the site only gives you a chance to win them for free. Too bad, I really want one for free.
Discovery Middle School Shooting
I just heard about the Discovery Middle School shooting incident. A ninth grade student was shot in the head by another night grader. The victim was taken to the Huntsville Hospital while his attacker is now in custody of the police. No one else was hurt in that incident.
Police say the shooting was held at 1:30 pm, Friday. There will be a news conference about the shooting at Discovery Middle School at 4:30 pm.
NBC Black History Month Menu
The NBC Black History Month caused a stirr. This is after Questar, leader of Jimmy Fallon’s Late Night Band and who has 1.3 million twitter followers, tweeted this picture of the menu posted at the NBC Cafeteria. Within minutes of the tweet NBC has taken down the menu and posted a new one. Here is the before and after pictures.
What do you think? Are they guilty of something or not?

Sandra Bullock will win the 2010 Oscars Best Actress Award
Of course, Sandra Bullock was nominated for Best Actress. I’m hoping she would win this year. No, I’m not only hoping but I’m predicting that she will win the Best Actress Award! This is definitely her year as I have watched both the Blind Side and The Proposal and was surprised that both were really good. You know the feeling when you ware excited about a movie as it has been hyped so much and everybody seems to love it only to find out after watching it that it was really not worth your time. Then you wonder are you the only person in the world who didn’t like it? Are you still normal?
I have so watched so many movies like that (an example that I can remember off the top of my head is the movie, Paranormal Activity) and sometimes I just don’t watch movies anymore because I’m afraid to be disappointed again and again.
But Sandra Bullock on The Proposal changed all of that. I thought it was like another romantic-comedy movie but this movie really stuck to me and so did Sandra Bullock’s role as the loathsome boss, Margaret Tate.
And who could ever forget this scene?
Don’t you agree that this is the most embarrassing scene in movie history but yet she pulled it off with class and was able to get away with it admiringly? I can’t believe she still has a body like that as I surely can even remember watching her when i was only about 10 years old or so. I’m now 28 so that must have been 20 years ago but even if I’m decades younger I tell you that my body is definitely not like that – heck, it’s not even close!
Anyway, I can’t stop talking about The Proposal but she’s even not nominated for her role there. She’s nominated for her role as Mrs. Touhy in the true-to-life drama, The Blind Side. I only watched that movie because I remembered how good she was on The Proposal. I thought she can’t pull off two good movies consecutively but she proved me wrong big time. The recent Critics Choice Award proved that she definitely awed the judges. She tied with veteran awardee, Meryl Streep (with an impressive 2 Oscars and 7 Golden Globe awards under her belt), which only means that Meryl might be a brilliant actress but there was definitely something in Sandra Bullock that they can’t resist giving an award to her too. If Critics Choice Award was hesitant to give the award to Sandra Bullock alone I think the Academy Awards would be bolder.
To the Oscars judges, yes it’s okay to give the award to Sandra Bullock alone and her alone. Meryl Streep might be attracting awards to her name like a magnet attracting iron ores but I’m sure she’ll understand that Sandra Bullock’s time has arrived.
